Heart and Chest Surgery

Children with congenital and acquired heart and lung diseases and their families benefit from a system of collaborative care by surgeons, cardiologists, critical care specialists, anesthesiologists and nurses.
Pediatric surgeons at University of Iowa Children’s Hospital are fully trained adult surgeons who have specialized in children’s surgery. By devoting their efforts entirely to kids, they are able to treat the simplest and correctable diseases all the way to major congenital anomalies requiring a lifetime of care and support.
